Privacy Policy

Days to Christmas — Effective 29 August 2026

The short version: Days to Christmas collects no data. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind, and we run no servers. Your countdown settings, Advent progress, gift list, letter to Santa and selfie settings are stored on your device and are never sent to us or to anyone else. The camera and microphone are used only for the features you start yourself — the selfie booth, Santa's globe in AR and dictating a letter — and what they capture is processed on the device. Optional purchases are handled entirely by Apple. Our App Store privacy label reads “Data Not Collected” because there is nothing to collect.

This policy covers Days to Christmas on iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, Mac and Apple Vision Pro, including its widgets, Live Activity, iMessage stickers and Siri shortcuts.

Who we are

Days to Christmas is made by Accessible Resources Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in the United Kingdom. You can reach us at info@accessibleresources.com.

What the app stores — and where

To do its job the app keeps a small amount of information on your device:

  • Your settings: scene, countdown style (sleeps, days, hours, minutes or heartbeats), Calm mode, reminder time, music preferences, and whether you have seen the welcome screens.
  • Your Advent progress: which doors you have opened and which activities you have ticked off this year.
  • Your gift list: the names of the people you are buying for and the gifts you have noted against them.
  • Your letter to Santa: the text of the letter and when Santa's reply is due.
  • Selfie booth preferences: which props you last used and where Santa stood in the picture — never the photos themselves.
  • Your Premium status, the date you first opened the app (which decides whether you qualify for the Founders offer) and a counter used to decide when to ask you for an App Store rating.

All of this lives in the app's own storage on your device. On the same device it is shared with the app's widgets and Live Activity so they can show the same countdown. If you have the Apple Watch app, your iPhone mirrors these settings and your Advent progress to your watch over Apple's encrypted device-to-device connection, and the watch sends door progress back; nothing passes through any server of ours. Like any app, this data may be included in the device backups you make with iCloud or your computer, under Apple's terms. We do not run our own sync service.

Deleting the app deletes everything it stored. We could not recover it for you, because we never had it.

Data we collect

None. We do not collect, receive, store or process any personal data from Days to Christmas. There are no accounts, no analytics SDKs, no crash reporters, no advertising identifiers and no third-party services inside the app. The app uses only Apple's own frameworks.

Camera: the selfie booth and Santa's globe

The camera is used for two things, and only when you open them:

  • Selfie with Santa. The live picture is analysed on your device using Apple's Vision framework so hats, beards, glasses and antlers can follow the faces in the frame. No frames are recorded, stored or transmitted. A photo only exists if you choose to save it or share it. If you save it, the app asks for permission to add to your photo library only — it cannot read or browse your existing photos.
  • Santa's globe in augmented reality (iPhone and iPad). The camera image is used by Apple's ARKit to place the globe on a surface in front of you. It is shown on screen and never stored or sent anywhere.

On Apple Vision Pro the globe is rendered by the device using the spatial information visionOS provides to every app; Days to Christmas does not access your surroundings beyond that. The Apple TV app has no camera features.

Microphone and speech recognition: letters to Santa

If you choose to speak your letter instead of typing it, the app uses Apple's Speech framework to turn your words into text. On most devices and languages this happens entirely on your device. Where on-device recognition is not available for your device or language, Apple's Speech framework sends the audio to Apple's servers to be transcribed, under Apple's privacy policy; we never receive it. The microphone is only on while you hold the dictation button, and no audio is ever recorded or kept.

The letter itself stays on your device. “Posting” it does not send it anywhere: it simply schedules the moment Santa's reply appears. The reply is written by the app itself, on your device — no person and no artificial-intelligence service reads or receives the letter. The app can read Santa's reply aloud using the speech voices built into the device.

Location

Days to Christmas does not use Location Services and never asks for your location. To tell you how far the North Pole is from your country and when Santa will reach you, it uses the region set in your device's Language & Region settings, which is not shared with us.

Notifications

The daily Advent reminder, the workshop reports, the Christmas Eve Live Activity and the moment Santa's reply arrives are all scheduled locally on your device by the operating system. No push-notification server is involved and nothing is transmitted. You can turn reminders off in the app or in your device's Settings at any time.

Purchases and the Founders offer

The countdown and every Advent door are free. Premium (all six scenes, extra snow and sparkle, and an unlimited gift list) is an optional purchase — either Lifetime, a one-off payment, or This Christmas Only, a season pass that ends on 1 January and does not renew. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple through your Apple Account under Apple's terms and privacy policy. We never see your card details, your name or your email address. Your entitlement is verified on your device using Apple's StoreKit; we use no third-party purchase or subscription service.

If you first opened version 2.0 during the Founders window, Premium is unlocked for free. Whether you qualify is worked out from the first-launch date stored on your device; nothing is sent to us to check it.

Gift links and Amazon

Each Advent door can suggest a matching sensory gift. Tapping the suggestion opens a search on Amazon in your browser or the Amazon app. These are ordinary links that carry our Amazon Associates tag; once you leave Days to Christmas, Amazon's own privacy policy applies. Amazon does not tell us who you are or what you looked at or bought — we only receive aggregated, anonymous reports. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. The app never contacts Amazon on its own.

Sharing

When you share a countdown card, a selfie or a Santa sticker, the app hands the image to the system share sheet and you choose where it goes. Nothing is shared unless you decide to share it.

What we never do

  • We never sell your data — we hold none to sell.
  • We show no adverts and use no advertising or marketing SDKs.
  • We never track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we use no device fingerprinting.
  • We never ask for your name, email address, date of birth or any account credentials.
  • We never upload photos, audio, letters or gift lists.

Children and families

Days to Christmas is made for families to use together, and many of the people who open it are children counting the sleeps or opening the day's Advent door. Because the app collects no personal data from anyone, it collects no personal data from children. Letters to Santa and photos never leave the device. Gift suggestions open Amazon outside the app, so parents may prefer to open those themselves. Days to Christmas is not listed in the App Store's Kids category and is intended to be used with a parent or carer.

Your rights (UK GDPR)

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation you have rights over personal data an organisation holds about you — including access, correction and erasure. Because the app's data never leaves your device, we hold no personal data about you to access, correct or erase: your information is already entirely in your control. If you believe we hold any personal data about you (for example, because you have emailed us), you can exercise any of these rights by contacting us, and you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

Terms

Your use of the app is also governed by the Days to Christmas Terms and our general Terms and Conditions.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Days to Christmas ever changes what data is handled, we will update this policy before that version ships and update the effective date above. The current version of this policy always applies to the current version of the app.
